Is It Thinking?
I attended Nate Chambers’ summer lecture “Who is ChatGPT? Technical Foundations of Generative AI” at St. John’s College. Dr. Chambers, a computer scientist who leads NLP research at the US Naval Academy, explained how large language models predict words without understanding.
