Light on Archimedes
Focused X ray fluorescence at Stanford SLAC illuminated three long buried pages in the Archimedes Palimpsest, restoring his Method of Mechanical Theorems and the limit trick of packing polygons until a circle reveals its area. CT pioneer Godfrey Hounsfield echoed that idea by summing hundreds of X ray readings around a skull and solving backward to map hidden tissue through the inverse Radon transform, and highlighted in a recent NYT article.
