Would Walt Approve?

Disney’s proposed Villains Land within Magic Kingdom invites awe, but I am uneasy. Walt envisioned a park where good triumphs and imagination uplifts — not a domain where darkness reigns. Villains have always had a place: a jolt of danger in Haunted Mansion, a burst of drama in fireworks, a thrilling exception during Halloween. But giving them a permanent throne risks shifting the park’s emotional center. Magic Kingdom’s power lies in clarity — where courage wins, kindness matters, and joy endures. Villains should never anchor the narrative. It’s a clever corporate answer to Universal’s Dark Epic — but a misstep in vision.
